Naming Our PeeWee Huts

On 24 May 2023, we named PeeWee Hut 5 after Charles Alley. The occasion was attended by Charles's family and descendants. Charles was an indigenous soldier who enlisted at 16 years old for World War I and went on to serve again in World War II. 

9 Aug 2022 - Lil Somers

On 9 Aug 2022, we named PeeWee Hut 4 after Lil Somers. Lil served in the Australian Army Women's Service (AWAS) in Townsville during World War II. 

All veterans and their families connected with The Oasis Townsville
acknowledge and pay respect
to the past, present and emerging Traditional Custodians and Elders of this nation and also acknowledge those Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who serve and have served in the Australian Defence Force.
