VETERANS’ AND FAMILIES EXPLORE CAREER OPTIONS

Monday 19 February 2024

The Oasis Townsville, a beacon of support for Veterans and their families, is hosting a Career Connections Showcase aimed at both serving and ex-serving Veterans, their families along with the new families who have recently relocated to the vibrant community of Townsville.

Set to take place on the 21st of February from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm, this event offers invaluable networking opportunities and essential career guidance for Veterans seeking career changes, as well as spouses of current serving members in search of employment opportunities.

The General Manager of The Oasis Townsville, Angie Barsby, said I'm delighted to see our community expanding with the arrival of new Veteran families. The Career Connections Showcase serves as a crucial platform for these families to explore employment opportunities, build professional networks, and integrate seamlessly into our supportive community."

The event aims to connect Veterans and newcomers with local employers and business leaders from the Veteran Business Alliance (VBA) who actively support the Veteran community. By facilitating meaningful connections and providing career guidance tailored to the unique needs of Veterans and their families, The Oasis Townsville continues to uphold its mission of providing a 'single front door' for ex-serving Veterans, their families and transitioning Australian Defence Force (ADF) members who have begun thinking about transition to connect and integrate into the Townsville Community.

The Chair of The Oasis Townsville, Lieutenant General John Caligari, AO, DSC (Ret'd) emphasised the significance of events like Career Connections Showcase in welcoming and empowering new Veteran families: "At The Oasis Townsville, we recognise the challenges that come with relocation, especially for those transitioning from military to civilian life. Our goal is to provide comprehensive support to ensure a smooth transition and to help Veterans and their families thrive in their new environment."

The Career Connections Showcase presents an opportunity for Veteran families to explore job prospects, receive personalised career advice, and forge connections that will pave the way for a successful transition into civilian life. The Oasis Townsville welcomes all Veteran families to join this informative and empowering event.
