Existing Skills, Career Change - Great Outcomes

10 Years as Infantry Specialist and achieved rank of Corporal. Gained Plant Operator tickets prior to exiting Defence in November 2022 for job opportunities in the civil works industry. Brad was seeking a career where he could spend more time with his family in Townsville.

The Oasis has created opportunities to network with Defence personnel and other businesses that are supportive of transitioning Defence personnel and veterans into the private sector working environment. It was through these networks that Shamrock Civil became aware of Brad and have subsquently employed him.

Brad married a Townsville lady and commenced their family with a girl now aged 3 years and has a second child due in June 2023. Therefore he was seeking a change to his work environment that allowed him to be home on a daily basis with his family. Shamrock Civil identified the level of mobile skills developed through a Defence career that create work ready employees and rapidly engaged Brad into their workforce when made aware of his desire to change into the private sector. Brad has transitioned successfully into a new career path.

Outcome

Brad has gained a career which allows him the family friendly lifestyle he was seeking and has given him improved job satisfaction from being able to see the outcomes of his efforts develop into completed projects. Shamrock benefited through gaining a reliable keen emloyee wanting to improve himself.
